MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - - Tennessee Tempo FC winger Horace Avila Jr. has been called up for international duty by the Football Federation of Belize for two matches in Concacaf Qualifiers.
Avila will fly to his home country on May 26th as the National Team begins their preparations for matches against both Montserrat and Panama. First up, Belize will travel to Trinidad and Tobago on June 4th to face off against the current 31st ranked team in Concacaf rankings, Montserrat, before then hosting the 3rd ranked team, Panama.
Speaking on what could be his 14th and 15th caps for Belize, Avila said, “Representing my country is always one of the greatest feelings, especially going up against a powerhouse team in the likes of Panama who are one of the top ranked teams right now. That’s when you realize that football is more than a game because you are no longer playing for yourself or for a crest, you’re playing for an entire nation”
The Belizean winger has been steady force for Tennessee Tempo FC as he has made eight appearances for the UPSL squad, as well as enjoying a fruitful season at the NAIA level with Bethel University this past school year.
